Logitech Speakers are one of the best speakers you can use on your computer but many users have reported problems trying to get them to work on Windows. Many users report seeing the issue just after updating to Windows 10 but, of course, there are other scenarios in which the same thing happens.

What Causes Logitech Speakers Not to Work on Windows?

- The default format is set too low – If the sample rate of the speakers is set too low, it might not work at all or it may produce low-quality audio. Windows do this to most newly added devices so make sure you change that.
- Audio enhancements are disabled – In some scenarios, audio enhancements need to be enabled for your speakers to work. This depends on the drivers you use.
- Apps have taken exclusive access over your speakers – If an app has done this, other apps can’t use your speakers properly and it simply won’t work. Make sure you disable this!
- Audio drivers – Last but not least, faulty or old audio drivers can be a culprit of the problem and you should update them as soon as possible!
Solution 1: Change the Default Format of the Speakers
If the speakers are sort of working but the sound they play is noisy and low-quality, you should check if the sample rate is too low. Windows often assign a low sampling frequency to newly added devices which can cause issues such as this one. You can select a higher frequency along with any bit depth!
- Right-click on the Volume icon located at the bottom right part of your screen and choose Sounds An alternative way would be to open the Control Panel on your PC and set the View by option to Large icons. After that, locate and click on the Sounds option to open the same window.
- Navigate to the Playback tab of the Sounds window which just opened up.
- Left-click on Logitech speakers and click the Properties button. Navigate to the Advanced tab in the Speakers’ Properties window and check the Default Format section. Click to open the dropdown menu.
- You can choose between different qualities and sample rates to experiment with. However, make sure the lowest you go is 2channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality). Check to see if your speakers work properly now!
Solution 2: Enable Audio Enhancements
It’s possible to disable all enhancements for the specific playback device. This prevents you from using Logitech speakers properly and they may stop working for a while. Make sure you enable enhancements in your speakers’ properties window!
- Right-click on the Volume icon located at the bottom right part of your screen and choose Sounds An alternative way would be to open the Control Panel on your PC and set the View by option to Large icons. After that, locate and click on the Sounds option to open the same window.
- Navigate to the Playback tab of the Sounds window which just opened up.

Solution 3: Deny Exclusive Access Over Your Speakers
If you are struggling with your Logitech speakers, you should make sure that no other app is trying to take exclusive control over your speakers. If that is the case, other apps won’t be able to access it and you won’t be able to get them to work. Follow the steps below in order to disable this!
- Right-click on the volume icon located at your taskbar and choose the Sounds option. If this icon is not located at your taskbar, you can locate Sound settings by opening Control Panel, switching the view to Category and selecting Hardware and Sound >>Sound.
- Check to see if your speakers are enabled under the Playback tab. Switch to this tab by clicking at the top of the window and locate the Speakers you are using. It should be located at the top and be selected.
- Click on it once and click the Properties button at the lower right part of the window. In the Properties window which opens, check under Device usage and set the option to Use this device (enable) if it wasn’t already and apply the changes.
- Navigate to the Advanced tab in the same properties window and check under Exclusive mode.
- Uncheck the boxes next to the “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device” and “Give exclusive mode applications priority”. Apply these changes as well and check to see if your Logitech speakers now work properly!
Solution 4: Run the Playing Audio Troubleshooter
Troubleshooting your speakers is the first thing you should do when troubleshooting this issue. Windows 10 can automatically recognize if there are certain problems with audio devices connected to your computer and it can act accordingly. Make sure you follow the steps below to run both troubleshooters.
- Search for Settings in the Start menu and click on the first result which pops up. You can also click directly on the cog button at the lower left part of the Start menu or you can use the Windows Key + I key combination.
- Locate the Update & security section at the bottom part of the Settings window and click on it.
- Navigate to the Troubleshoot tab and check under the Get up and running section.
- Playing Audio troubleshooter should be right there at the bottom so make sure you click on it and follow the instructions on the screen in order to run it.
- Check to see if the problem has been resolved and if your Logitech speakers start working!
Solution 5: Install the Latest Audio Drivers
Many users have reported that they managed to resolve the problem simply by reinstalling their audio device drivers. This is an easy method to perform and it’s definitely worth your time. Check it out below!
- Click the Start menu at the lower-left part of the screen, type in “Device Manager” afterward, and select it from the list of available results by simply clicking the first one.
- You can also press the Windows Key + R key combination in order to bring up the Run dialog box. Type in “devmgmt.msc” in the dialog box and click OK in order to run it.
- Since you want to update the driver for your headphones, expand the Sound, video and game controllers section. Right-click on your audio driver in the list and choose Update driver from the context menu.
- Choose the Search automatically for updated driver software option from the new window and wait to see if the utility is able to find newer drivers.
